Seasons Hospice Honors Veterans for Memorial Day in Maryland

Glen Burnie, MD—(May 23, 2016) It surprises many Americans to learn that 25 percent of all deaths in the US are Veterans. That’s 1,800 people a day; more than 680,000 Veterans every year. These heroic Americans deserve recognition for their military service– particularly at the end of life’s journey. Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care will be honoring 19 veterans at Independence Court Assisted Living. The Community Recognition event will take place on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the assisted living facility located at 5821 Queens Chapel Road Hyattsville, MD.

The event will include a posting of colors and invocation followed by a pinning and We Honor Veterans certificate presentation by Eunice Yang, Seasons Chaplain and active reservist.  There will be many photo opportunities for families and staff.

“Getting the chance to remember and honor the veterans that Seasons has cared for this past year in IL is really special to our organization,” said Deborah Imbach, National Director of Quality for Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care.  “We recognize that veterans have unique needs when they are nearing end-of-life, so we have teamed up with the We Honor Veterans program to help with honoring America’s veterans and helping them move toward a more peaceful ending.”

The We Honor Veterans program teaches respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement – to comfort patients with a history of military service and possibly physical or psychological trauma. These valuable resources have helped our staff create a peaceful end-of-life experience for the approximately 300 veterans that are on our service daily nationwide.
