Seasons Hospice Joins the Top 1 Percent for Veteran’s Care

ST. LOUIS - Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care of Missouri has been recognized as a Level Four Partner in the We Honor Veterans Program by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). This is the program's highest level.

The We Honor Veterans Program is a collaboration of the Veterans Administration and NHPCO to ensure America’s veterans have access to quality end-of-life care. Less than one percent of hospice programs in the United States have achieved Level Four status.

“We are very proud our team is being recognized as a Level Four Partner,” said Dawn E. Mullins, RN, MHA, CHA, executive director of Seasons Hospice of Missouri. “The We Honor Veterans program recognizes the unique needs our military veterans. It is an honor for us to serve those who have served our nation.”

As a Level Four partner, Seasons Hospice has:

• Proven its commitment to the We Honor Veterans program and recruited staff and volunteers to participate in the program

• Provides veteran-centric education for staff and volunteers and actively identify patients with military experience

• Built organizational capacity to provide quality care for veterans

• Developed and strengthened relationships with VA medical centers and local veteran organizations

• Increased access and improved quality of care for veterans in the community.

"Veterans I meet with often revisit a time when their life was almost cut short, or was important to them for other reasons," says Seasons Hospice volunteer and retired Army Sgt. Mike Pereira. "On a battlefield you rely on people to look out for you. As a hospice volunteer I can be there for them so they know someone looking out for them."

Participation in We Honor Veterans helps ensure military veterans receive high-quality health care, burial benefits and the survivor benefits to which their families are entitled.
